Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated

Reading Time: 5 minutes

I am borrowing the title of this post from Confucius. Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. True! and it is increased in today’s time. We are keep making our life’s complicated day by day via different ways. It can be financial burden, health issues, relationship complications, technology misuse or too much use, social media, internet, time pass or time waste, mental torture, stress, too much thinking about other’s, what other will say? etc.

But, we are forgetting, it’s your life, all the control of your life is in your hands and mind. Why you are allowing external things to make your life tough or worst.

An unexamined life is not worth living.      Socrates

Just observe you day and do it for some days and you will come to know many unknown facts about you, about your daily life and how you are wasting time, energy and money on many unnecessary things. You are just running in the direction, whatever life is offering to you. You are not thinking, just keep going because you don’t want to face any challenges or difficulties. But, it’s life, ups and downs will come and surely come. What you will do then, if you are not prepared today or not preparing from now. Many people argue that we will see when the time come but my friend, when that time come, it will not allow you to see or think, it will ruin you, if you are not prepared enough to fight against it.

Come out of your comfort zone and start doing something new, something that will help you to enhance you skills, learn new things. Find the ways to utilize your time in effective ways and find the ways to increase your passive and active incomes. In today;s time, the knowledge and information only the real wealth. SO start grabbing the knowledge. And how you get more knowledgeable, you know it right! by reading and reading a lot.

Charlie Munger suggests:

In my whole life, I have known no wise people (over a broad subject matter area) who didn’t read all the time — none, zero.

Observe successful people, and learn how they utilize their time and energy. And start to absorb the best of their habits in your own life. I am sure, out of 100, 90 successful people have a habit of reading. Then you also start reading good books. They organised their time well, you must also start using the TODO list and organised your day and time.

To simplify your life, you have to use the advise from Nassim nicholas taleb on negativa and start removing unnecessary things from your life. Really, this technique will help you with a lot of free time and energy.

  • Stop reading news paper and stop watching news channels. The news which is for your use, will find its way and come to you anyway, don’t worry. Or you can just do google news and in 5 min finish the news instead of reading the full news paper and news TV channels for hours.
  • Stop using too much social media. I don’t find any use of it for the sensible minds. Artificial friends and likes, will not help you to improve. It’s just waste of time and energy. Sometimes, it help you to find any person who is not in your contact from a long time, but if you really want to contact someone, you can anyway find him via other medium as well.
  • Stop watching the TVs. I don’t know why we waste the full day just by sitting and watching the TV on the name of entertainment. Is it really worth for entertainment. We have sports, gyms, people around us, nature for the entertainment and learning. TV will not help you to grow. Yeah, sometimes, with family you can watch but not for the entire day. At the end, it’s your life and your choice but it’s my site and i am just sharing my thoughts here, right!
  • Stop using unnecessarily the mobile phones. Just ask, what is the actual use of mobiles and do that only. Yes their are so many apps in the market now, but this all apps are just fetching your privacy form you and selling it over the internet. Too much use of mobiles will damage your eyes, mind and health. Find time to stay away from mobiles and try for some days. You will be amazed with the results. Just few hours without mobile will help you to think with free mind.
  • Stay away from unnecessary debt, credit cards. If you don’t have money then leave it for future. If you don’t need it then don’t buy it. Don’t buy things on debt or credit cards, it will be a burden on your financial health. It’s fine if you don’t own an iPhone. How much difference it makes at the end. Save the money and invest, not for creating wealth only but saving you from any future financial crisis.
  • Stay away from Alcohol, cigarettes and similar things. I also have a bad habit of smoking once in a month but yeah i will stop it anyway. I am also a human being and i am bound to have some bad habits, right! Anyway, this things will not help you to get healthy, as you grow old, this things will come in your life in the form of very big problems, health wise and financially as well. You have to do rounds to the hospitals and doctors and in today’s time everything is a business, and everyone is here to make their profits. Your health and wealth is not a concern for anyone. So, be wise, and think.
  • Stop eating nonsense things, too much outside food. In compulsion, it’s fine for some days but don’t make it a habit. Your body is your temple and you have to take care of it. This is only the things you have and in your control in terms of what to eat and exercise. Unfortunate things, no one can control.
  • Loving your work and giving time to your work is very good but don’t let it be a burden for you. Work is for you, you are not for work only. It’s a medium for you to earn your livelihood but remember it’s for your livelihood, not life itself. Stay away from stress and too much stretch on the name of work. Health must be on first priority on your list.
  • Technology is for making our life simple, don’t misuse it and don’t complicate your life. Control your use of internet and other technical gadgets. Too much of anything is not good for us.
  • Don’t thing too much about other’s, what other’s will say or react on your action or inaction doesn’t matter at the end. What you think on your action or inaction, is matter the most. Let other do whatever they want to do.

So making the life complicated, and start simplifying it. It’s possible.

When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.     Alexander Graham Bell

Through discipline comes freedom.- Aristotle

What does Aristotle meaning form the above quote, lets try to explore it in this article today. Everyone have their own thought on the above quote. You can give your suggestions in the comment box at the end of the article.

How it help us -the discipline of study and applying oneself to attaining knowledge, understanding, and wisdom leads us to freedom from mistakes, both in thought and in action. Discipline assists clear thought and pure action, while the undisciplined mind is enslaved to error, and the undisciplined life is enslaved to evil. True! Right. Yes, of-course it is true but the problem is, very few people think about it.

Don’t judge my choices without understanding my reasons

Reading Time: 2 minutes

People normally judge others without knowing the reasons behind their actions. Why? It’s normal mentality of human being to judge others and make their opinions about them. Because it is easy to comment on others, what it will take to make a comment about or on others…..nothing right!

But, we must be cautious before making any opinion or comment about others, that’s not in our boundary. That is the boundary of that other person, individually. It is his right to make his own decisions or choices based on his will. Who the hell you are to make any opinion or comment on the other person’s action or choices.

We must come out of this narrow mentality behavior of ours. We must be live freely and let other also live their life freely. Every individual have his own reasons behind his action or inaction. So, don’t judge him before knowing his reasons.

We all live in a society that has become very judgmental. Everyone seems to think that what everyone else is doing is somehow their business as well, and wants to know what everyone else is doing, comment on the situation, and judge their actions. We think that it is our right to know what other’s are doing and we have a right to make comment on that. This society seems almost obsessed with how other people live their lives. In fact, they seem to spend much more time critiquing other people’s lives than they do improving their own life. People forgetting their personal life and wasting a lot of time in observing other people life and interfering in their life.

We have a very limited asset – TIME on this planet earth. So, instead of worrying about the choices that other people make, focus on your own choices, your own actions, your own life. Spend your time making your life the best that it can be (Example- Reading good books, writing good stuff, travelling the world, meeting good people) instead of spending your time gossiping and tearing down others. Live YOUR life, not everyone else’s life. Stop being externally judgmental and start being internally aware of your own life. Before knowing other, we must know our-self. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to judge the actions of others. I don’t have time to waste on other people, i am too much busy in my life, in my stuff, and it should be like this only. Consume all the limited time you have. Don’t waste it.

Stop judging other’s, that’s not your job!

Take a note – My Note taking system

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Many readers face problem of recalling what they have read. To solve this problem, we take notes while reading. I take notes on the margin of the page while reading any book. Today, i will share my note taking system with the reader of the blog.

How to take notes while reading a Book?

You have to make your own condensed notes. You learn from MAKING them. A lot of thinking goes into deciding what to include and exclude. You develop your own system of abbreviations and memory methods for the information.

Reading books is an active process, not a passive process. It requires your energy and mind. While reading any good book, you get new thoughts, you acquire new wisdom. You are in an active argument with the author of the book. You need to understand the point of the author and come up with your own thought as well. This is only the right way of reading and learning form the books. While reading any book, we need to write in the book and make the notes from the book. Now the question is, how to take notes while reading a book?

There are many ways to make notes while reading a book. I will share my way to make notes while reading the book.

My system of taking notes:

  • Before starting the book, write on the first page of the book. What you want to learn from the book, i.e what’s your agenda by reading this book.
  • Before starting the new chapter, write in the start of the chapter, whats your expectation from the chapter. Then at the end of the chapter, analyse your expectation and what actually you accomplished with the chapter. What are the questions answered by the chapter. And what are the new questions or thoughts raised by the chapter in your mind. Then make a note of this thoughts. You will get the answer either in the current book or in your next read(Book). One more point, all the notes should be in your own language. This should not be the copy and paste of the writer’s words or thoughts.
  • At this point you have the chapter’s summary in short, the author’s teachings and your own learning and questions. Now find some scenario in the real world or in your past readings or past experience. And look where you can apply the newly learned knowledge. This is the way of actual learning and wisdom. It will help you to enhance your wisdom. Repeat the same process with all the chapters of the book.
  • Once the book finished. Check the first page. And read your expectations from the book that you have written before starting the book. Then analyse what expectations are fulfilled, what questions are answered? And what questions are not answered yet? Then at the end, write the expectation’s response and answer’s received for your questions. And new questions raised or thoughts learned form the book.
  • Now,read all the notes taken once and keep the book for some time(One week, two week or one month). And start reading some other books.
  • Next, after one or two or three weeks, pick the book again and read the notes taken by you. Now, analyse, still you have the same though or questions or some of your views got changed. Some of your unanswered questions answered. At this time, you are not the same person as you were before starting that book(First one). Your thought is not the same as when you first time read the book. You have achieved new wisdom and new knowledge during the book’s ageing time.
  • Now, in the second reading of the notes, most of your notes looks like a garbage now. So write the important notes and learning on the end cover or on a paper with book’s page number. This is the actual notes and your learning from the book.

The above process looks difficult, but in some time of practice, you will be addicted to it and it will be simple for you.

Intelligence is something we are born with. Thinking is a skill that must be learned

Reading Time: 2 minutesI have many friends, who are very intelligent. Often, i amused, how they are this much intelligent? But recently i got the answer from Edward De Bono, a Maltese physician, psychologist, philosopher, author, inventor and consultant. He said, the intelligence is a god gift and some people are born with it. So, we don’t have any control on it, as it is given by God. But now the question is, if the god is not gifted you with superb intelligence with the birth then what you can do to become intelligent? Or what we can do to improve our thinking power?
