This article is inspired for the book Antifragile by Nassim Taleb. He suggests that the solution to many problems in life is by removing things, not adding things. Like, avoiding television if not required, avoiding mobiles use if not required, or avoiding to eat more and outside food if need good health, avoiding to expend on the things which are not important and not required etc.
Normally, we waste a lot of time and energy on the things, which are really don’t matter. Why we always try to add things in our life but in reality we don’t need them. We always compare ourselves with others and try to get the things which other’s own. Why we do over expense on the things like fancy TV, mobiles, useless subscriptions, alcohol, cigarettes, outside unhealthy food etc. We are just keep adding and with it we are adding debt, health problems, family problems and many other problems as well in our life. But, in actual what we must do it, whatever is necessary for us to live a good life, just do expense on it, whatever our body needs, just eat it. Why we do forceful things against our nature, pocket and body. Taleb writes –
I would add that, in my own experience, a considerable jump in my personal health has been achieved by removing offensive irritants: the morning newspapers, the boss, the daily commute, air-conditioning, television, emails from documentary filmmakers, economic forecasts, news about the stock market, gym “strength training” machines, and many more.
By just removing TV, useless use of mobile, newspaper, unnecessary commutes, useless internet surfing etc, we can save a lot of time, energy and money. And we direct our-self towards a meaningful life. Taleb then adds –
If true wealth consists in worriless sleeping, clear conscience, reciprocal gratitude, absence of envy, good appetite, muscle strength, physical energy, frequent laughs, no meals alone, no gym class, some physical labor (or hobby), good bowel movements, no meeting rooms, and periodic surprises, then it is largely subtractive.
Just try to simplify your life. Don’t confuse yourself. And don’t stuck in this trap. Just stop doing unnecessary expenses, through your credit cards. Stop buying things on EMI and credit cards, Stop wasting time on TV and mobiles, instead read good books, Stop roaming aimlessly, Stop meeting useless people etc. Stop saying yes to everything and learn to say NO. It’s very important to say NO.
Remove what you don’t want from your life-
Stop following others. Rather than following others blindly, be honest with yourself about your values and priorities. Let other’s do what they want to do with their life. People provoke you but it’s you who have to decide whether to be provoked or do what you want to do. Decide your goals and just keep working on them. Choose your goals wisely. You have your own limitation and you can not achieve everything out their, so keep realistic goals.
Remove people from your circle, who are not good and whom you don’t care. It’s better to have less friends then having a crowd, which don’t support you when you will be in need. Always choose your friends wisely because you are a combination of the five people around you always. You slowly get their attitude and their habits in your life. Stay away from the useless people and people with bad habits. Secure yourself from the other’s, who try to rule you. You have your own attitude and direction for life.
start removing all the things from your life, which are not important and for which or whom you don’t care at all. This simple wisdom will help you to free yourself from many problems of the world and people.
You have limitations, you have your own limited time, energy, wisdom. Why to waste this limited asset on the things which are useless, with the people who are useless and mindless. Who don’t know the value of time and family and care. People, who just know how to waste the time and assets they currently have. I think, you have more money, save it, donate it, help to others via any medium that you have. You have time, use it for yourself, for your loved one, for reading and writing, for helping others. Stop Wasting the time and energy.
